Hare Krishna Movement, Vrindavan was earlier actively involved in contributing towards the environment by ensuring proper hygiene and upkeep of the cleanliness for 1km of the Bhaktivedanta Swami Marg, the main road connecting the Delhi Agra Highway to the Banke Bihari Temple. This was carried out the under the banner of “Vraja Sringar” an initiative to ensure a clean and green Vrindavan.
All the open drains and solid waste along this road from Vrindavan Research Institute till Vidyapith Chouraha was taken care by the Trust. An enthusiastic team took care of cleaning all the open drains to ensure that there is no clogging and the effluents in the drain do not overflow onto the road. All the solid waste was collected and taken to one location from where it is shifted by a garbage vehicle to the Nagar Palika’s designated dump yard.
Hare Krishna Movement Vrindavan had tied up with Friends of Vrindavan another NGO for the shifting of the garbage. The team worked for around 8 hours every day in order to keep up the cleanliness along the 1km stretch of the road. This civic support was taken up by HKM-V with a view to improve the sanitation so as to provide the right kind of environment for the pilgrims and residents of Vrindavan.
